In 1981, it was still illegal to be gay in France. Today, same-sex marriage is recognized and has paved the way for legalizing the adoption of children by LGBTQ families. Proud tells the story of Charles, Victor and Diego, three generations of the same family who represent the seismic social changes that took place in just three decades. Proud - Episode 2

September 1998. Victor wants to start a family. Victor makes a request for adoption in his name, claiming to be heterosexual and single to give him and Serge more chance. A social worker visits their home to check that Victor is a good candidate for adoption, while Serge keeps out of the way. But the pretense proves difficult.

Proud - Episode 3

2013. The ultimate show-down between Charles, Victor and Diego takes place at Charles’s place. Finally, the three generations sit down to talk and try to understand each another. A few days later, the law on same-sex marriage is passed.
